CANINE MASSAGE THERAPY: SUPPORT FOR EVERY STAGE AND LIFESTYLE
At Willow Paws, I offer specialized canine massage therapy designed to improve the well-being of your dog, particularly senior pets. While senior dogs hold a special place in my heart, I also love working with athletic dogs, working dogs, and dogs with special needs. Every session is tailored to your dog’s unique physical, emotional, and mobility needs.
In addition to massage therapy, I also offer Cold Laser Therapy—a safe, non-invasive modality that uses low-level light to reduce inflammation, relieve pain, and promote tissue healing.
When integrated with massage, cold laser therapy provides deeper relief for dogs experiencing:
Arthritis or hip/elbow dysplasia
Post-surgical or injury recovery
Muscle tightness, joint discomfort, or aging-related stiffness
Skin conditions or slow-healing wounds
Laser therapy is especially beneficial for senior dogs and active or recovering pups who need extra support—but it’s safe and soothing for dogs of all ages.
I hold certification in Cold Laser Therapy for Companion Animals through the American Institute of Medical Laser Applications (AIMLA) and use this modality strictly within a wellness-based, non-diagnostic scope. When appropriate, I welcome veterinary collaboration or referrals.

What to Expect During a Session
Whether we’re focusing on joint stiffness, sports recovery, or total relaxation, your dog will receive personalized care. May include effleurage, gentle compression, targeted muscle work, passive stretching, and cold laser therapy if selected.
Sessions typically last 30–45 minutes. If cold laser is included, it will be applied before or after massage, depending on your dog’s comfort and therapeutic needs. You may notice signs of relief such as sighs, stretches, or relaxation during the session—and sometimes a good nap afterward!
Massage Safety & Scheduling
Canine massage is a safe, holistic therapy for most dogs—including those with chronic conditions, mobility issues, or high activity levels. If your dog is under veterinary care, I’m happy to work alongside your care team to support their healing plan.
Not sure how often your dog should receive massage? I’ll help guide you based on their condition, lifestyle, and response—whether it’s weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly care.
Before Your Appointment:
To help your dog enjoy the session fully:
Make sure they’ve had a potty break beforehand.
Choose a quiet, comfortable space with minimal distractions.
Avoid feeding a large meal right before the session.
If possible, keep other pets and young children occupied during the session.
After Your Appointment: What’s Normal?
Following a massage session, your dog may:
Feel sleepy or nap more than usual
Drink extra water or urinate more frequently
Experience mild, temporary soreness (like post-workout stiffness)
Seek quiet time—or become playful and energetic
Stretch, sigh, or move more easily
The body is simply going through the process of cleansing itself of impurities, toxins and muscular imbalances. It is perfectly normal and these are all positive signs that the massage is having the desired effect.
Support your dog by offering water, rest, and gentle walks. Avoid intense exercise for 24 hours after treatment to maximize healing benefits.
